Buying a Gaming PC You Can Actually Upgrade Later

Two gaming PCs at the same price can perform identically on day one and cost wildly different amounts to keep current. One takes a new graphics card and a faster processor without touching anything else. The other needs a new motherboard, new memory, and a new power supply to accept the same upgrade, at which point you have bought a second computer. Why the upgrade path is worth more than launch specs

Graphics cards have grown in every dimension. A card that was long in 2020 is mid-sized now, and current high-end models are three slots thick and over 330mm long. A compact case that fits today's card may not fit its replacement.
Measure, or find the case model and look up its stated maximum GPU length and cooler height. Then compare against the cards you might realistically buy. Thickness matters as much as length, because a three-slot card can cover the lower PCIe slots and block a capture card or sound card.
